What we here at MVP say about these cams:
Buyer beware!
The quality of GSC cams is not the issue, they are very high quality. The issue is that we (as well as several other very well known Supra shops (can't say who here in writing)) have seen multiple, multiple heads with severely premature bucket wear that are running these cams. The only solution? To DLC-coat your buckets at a cost of $500 - that's ridiculous!
There are lots of great cams out there from Brian Crower, Kelford, and Titan (made by Kelford) that we offer that do not cause any premature wear issues. We highly advise you consider any brand of cams other than GSC (and HKS - their grind profiles are from the 1990's and they make significantly less power than modern cams like the brands mentioned here).
What GSC says about these cams:
GSC Power-Division's big, nasty billet cams for the 2JZ-GTE! Not for street use. 1,500+ HP applications running anything from Methanol, NO2 or 45+psi on large frame turbos. This is a serious cam for serious horsepower. These camshafts do require a valve spring upgrade capable of handling the added boost and RPM levels of high horsepower engine builds.
- Requires shim-less buckets
- Requires cylinder head clearancing
- Drag race and high RPM use only!
- Rev range from 5,000-10,000 RPM
